LONDON, Nov. 6. An Ankara report states that Britain is preparing a largescale aerial offensive on the Russian front and is sending an armada of fighters and bombers. General Wavell and Red Army officers are planning the joint defence of the Caucasus. J
Situation in Crimea Remains Serious

While the situation in the Crimea remains serious there is no confirmation of the German claim to have split the Soviet armies, penetrated the Juila mountains and reached the Black Sea coast. The Soviet troops, which retreated to new lines are reported to be consolidating their defences. Moscow states that fighting is proceeding in the region of Simferopol. Severe fighting continues on the Moscow front with the Russians counter-attacking with success. Tula is the centre of a fierce struggle. The Vichy radio claims that Guderian’s tank forces pierced the Russian lmes at some points, but Moscow reports that the Soviet hand grenade and petrol bottle sauads are wrecking the Nazi tanks. 4 The Moscow radio says the Russians checked thrusts from two directions during a sudden flare-up on the Leningrad front, while their counter-attacks are growing in intensity on the \ sole of this sector.
