Wedding Celebrated at Levin
SPEIRS—LAW. Two pioneer'families of the Manawatu district were united on November Ist, 1941, when Audrey, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Law, “Te Rolienga,” Shannon, was married to Douglas, only son of Mr. #nd Mrs. A. K. Speirs, Foxton. The Rev. H. Finch performed the ceremony at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Levin, which had been tastefully decorated by Mrs. and Miss Elliott. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful magnolia satin gown with cut out embroidery on the bodice and short train. Her veil, worn by her mother and grandmother, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom. The dainty bouquet was composed of tiny roses and lily of the valley. She was attended by her sister, Miss Josephine Law, who was attired in dusky pink taffeta with touches of violet, a top knot of matching flowers, and a short pink veil and bouquet of lovely pink roses completed a charming toilet. The best man was Mr. Ron Wall, of Motuiti, and the ushers Mr. Robin Law and Mr. Gordon Speirs. The bride’s mother wore a smart frock of petrel blue with a spray of apricot and blue flowers and a hat and veil to tone, finished with a fox fur and black accessories. The mother of the bridegroom chose a navy and white ensemble, a hat to match and white spray. The guests, mainly relations, gathered later at the homestead, “Te Rohenga,” Shannon, for the reception. The bride travelled in a smart blue costume with white accessories.
The happy couple will reside at the bridegroom’s farm, Glen Oroua.
