During last week the sale of savings rertihcatea and defence bonds and the increase in savings bank deposits in Britain amounted % to £14,016,033 (the total sum raised is now £832,034,061.) During the week the bomber savings group raised £1305, bringing the total for England and Wale? to £196,805,
B.A.F. HAMMERING INDUSTRIAL CENTRES MORE ENEMY SHIPS SUNK LONDON, June 16. For the fifth night in succession powerful forces of the Bomber Command were over Western Germany. A great weight of heavy bombs was rained on the Ruhr, Cologne and Hanover. During daylight the R.A.F. continued its policy of seeking out and attacking enemy shipping. A 1000ton cargo boat received a direct hit, and the crew were seen abandoning ship, a 4000-ton vessel in convoy was hit and set on fire, an E-boat was successfully bombed and a 6000-ton vessel was hit and damaged. Aerodromes in occupied France were successfully raided. From all these operations three aircraft are missing
