(From Our Own Correspondent.) Guardsmen of the Sanson, Awaliuri, Ohakea and Alt. Biggs units paraded at Sandon on Saturday morning prior to proceeding to this company \s headquarters on the coast. Altogether 90 Aueri made the trip and had a good day [both from a Homo Guard point and view and socially. The men were in charge of Company Commander, Lieut. R. F. Scott, who, in conjunction with the other officers of the company, instructed the men in digging weapon pits, crawl trenches and the art of camouflage of trucks. After lunch all tho men moved off to front lino positions where they dug weapon pits and sandbagged them. Instruction was given in erecting wire entanglements. The pioneer squad sunk a well and obtained a good water supply. All arrangements for tho supply of hot water, milk and tea was ably arranged by the Quartermaster’s staff. At the weekly parade of tlio Sandon Homo Guard unit this week all Guardsmen stood in silence as a mark of respect for the late Guardsmen Donald AlcMurtrie who was accidentally killed over the week-end whilst on a deer stalking expedition around the foothills of the Ruahine ranges. Troopers Q. O. Wilson, J. A. AlcCool, C. L. Grace and J. Harris have returned to Sandon after undergoing 3 months’ Territorial trairtinil with the Alanawatu Alountcd (Mechanised) Rifle company.
