(From Our Own Correspondent.) Miss O. M. Kerr, Te Horo, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. A. Miller. Friends of Mrs. G. Hutton will regret to learn that she is again confined to hospital. Mr. F. M. Saywell, who underwent an operation recently, is making good progress. Miss E. Wishnowsky is spending her annual leave at Nelson. Mrs. L. Dufiin is visiting Wanganui. Private Jim Hughes, who participated in recent Territorial manoeuvres, uas returned home. Miss M. O’Eullivan, Mataroa, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O’Sullivan. The Halcombe Golf Club’s dance held .recently was largely attended, visitors being present from ali parts of the district. The lucky Gay Gordons was won by Miss J. Fergusson and Mr. R. J. Managh, and the winners of the waltzing competition were Mr. and Mrs. D C. Managli. Euchre prizes were won by Airs. B. Johnson 1, Airs. J. O’-Sulli-van 2; Mr. W. McLennan 1, Mr. N. Adam 2. Air. G. Judd was M.C. Tho organising of the E.P.S. in this district is being undertaken by Mr, V. iB. Short, who has shown much initiative in drawing up a sound scheme, the provisions of which should adequately meet requirements in an emergency. The men’s gflif’medal round, played during 'the week-end, was won by G. Judd who returned a net 66. The draw for next week’s stroke competition is: G. Bcvan, J. Dais and li. Bradley; N. Anderson, A. C. Boswell and R. Todd; E. Anderson, G. Judd and R. J. Alanagk; J. U’Sullivan, li. Elgar and 1. Owersj K. Fergusson, L. Seigel and D. C. Managh; E. W. Cowdrey, R. Taylor and E. N. Ashworth, R. Anderson and C. Fergusson; L. Miller, G. Nicol and B. Bevan. The ladies’ stroke ,competition played last week wiis won by Mrs. J. O Sullivan.
