Single Raiders Over Britain
(Rec. 15, 12.45) RUGBY, May 14. An Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security communique says that there has been some enemy activity over Britain to-day. Bombs were dropped by single aircraft at points cn the south coast, in the East Midlands, and in Eastern England. Little damage was done, and the number of casualties was small.
One enemy bomber was destroyed while raiding Britain last night. It is now known that another enemy aircraft was shot down by anti-aircraft gunfire during daylight last Sunday, making a total of six destroyed that day. There was only minor enemy activity over Britain last night. A few bombs were dropped on places on the coast. The casualties and damage were very small.
The mounting list of distinguished people killed by enemy action is further increased with the announcement that Mr Edward Ingram was killed while fire-watching. Mr Ingram was prominent in diplomatic circles and was a frequent speaker in 8.8. C. news comjmentaries.
