Anti-shrinkage Process for Woollens
, Received Thursday, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, May 1. British scientists have perfected an anti-shrinkage process to which woollen underwear worn by the Services is being treated. Half a million pairs of socks weekly are being treated. They cost an extra penny a pair and the treatment enables twentyfold longei wear. Last year socks thickened after washing causing lameness, but the new process keeps the wool soft. ‘Women will be unable to take advantage of the process until after the war.
