WAIATA The monthly meeting of the Waiata Women’s Institute was held recently at the home of Mrs. Redshaw, Mrs. Chambers presiding over a fair attendance. Several apologies of absence were received and following the minutes, correspondence was delt with. Each member produced a knitted'peggy square, these to be used for quilt making for refugees. An instructive demonstration on hair wave-setting was given by Mrs. Chambers, this being closely followed by members, while the thought for the day was also supplied by Mrs. Chambers. for three squares of puff pastry was won by Mrs. Redshaw, Mrs. Billet 2, Mrs. Mulholland 3, while a written competition in charge of Mrs. Redshaw went to Mrs. Chambers, with Mrs. Miller 2, and Miss Frazer 3. A competition for the best bloom was won by Mrs. Chambers, Mrs. Redshaw 2 and Miss Frazer 3. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
