Women’s Institute
WAIATA The monthly meeting of the Waiata Women’s Institute was held recently at the home of Mrs. Redshaw, Mrs. Chambers presiding over a fair attendance. Several apologies of absence were received and following the minutes, correspondence was delt with. Each member produced a knitted'peggy square, these to be used for quilt making for refugees. An instructive demonstration on hair wave-setting was given by Mrs. Chambers, this being closely followed by members, while the thought for the day was also supplied by Mrs. Chambers. The roll call, “What I enjoy most on the wireless,” brought forth varied answers. A competition
for three squares of puff pastry was won by Mrs. Redshaw, Mrs. Billet 2, Mrs. Mulholland 3, while a written competition in charge of Mrs. Redshaw went to Mrs. Chambers, with Mrs. Miller 2, and Miss Frazer 3. A competition for the best bloom was won by Mrs. Chambers, Mrs. Redshaw 2 and Miss Frazer 3. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
