Trotting Driver Reinstated

l’er Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 30. At the Ashburton trotting meeting on April 5, C. King, driver of Surprise Potts, was charged with interference to Special Force and his licence was reduced to D grade for three months. King appealed to the Trotting Association who heard additional evidence and referred the case back to the club. The club has now decided that after reading the additional evidence the charge against King cannot stand and King has been reinstated as an A grade driver. ENGLISH RACING LONDON, April 30. The first classic of the season was decided at Newmarket to-day instead of yesterday, and the result was:— NEW TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS, a sweepstakes with £IOOO added; for three-year-olds; 1 mile. Won by two lengths; one and a-half lengths, between second and third. Winner trained by F. G. Tcmpleman at Lambourn, Berk- ; shire. REBELLION DEAD Rebellion, which was raced in partnership by Messrs. W. S. Bennttt and M. Obrien, died recently from an attack of pleurisy (states the StarSun). He had been hacked about in the Lceston district and was due to resume serious work at any time. Rebellion was bred by Mr. G. MurrayAynslev, being a chestnut gelding by Robespierre from the Arrovvsmith-Con-tempt mare Muff, a half-sister to Silver Scorn and Disdain. Last season Rebellion won two races and was placed several times, though much of his form has been disappointing. Early in the present season he had five races without showing form.
