Notes of the Day
Last ovening the Feilding Borough Council held a special meeting to consider matters in connection with the borough water supply. While taking part, in the games connected with physical training in the Home Guard on Saturday afternoon, Air. C. A’- Jewell suffered a broken rib in a fall. At yesterday’s annual meeting of the Feilding Fire Board a motion of sympathy was passed to Air. B. O. Turner, a member of the brigade staff, who is a patient in the Feilding Private Hospital. All present expressed the wish i'or his speedy recovery to health. Alembers of the Feilding Home Guard who paraded on Saturday afternoon had their first course of instruction in physical drill in the form of exercises aud games. The instruction is being imparted by guardsmen who have beeu attending courses under instructors of the Physical Welfare Department. The little daughter of Air. aud Mrs. W. D. R. Baker, of Makino, suffered severe head injuries when she fell out of a moving motor-car on Sunday when returning from a trip to Stan way. It is understood that the child had interfered with the door lock with the result that the door flew open and she fell heavily to the road ‘way. She as removed to hospital and yesterday she was reported as showing some improvement.
