Winds: North easterly predominating over the North Island and south-easter-ly over the South Island; force strong in tho Auckland peninsula, elsewhere moderate but freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough north of Tauranga, otherwise slight to moderate, biff rising gradually on the east coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong north-easterly winds in the northern portion and south-easterlies in the southern. Weather: Fair at first generally; drizzle or rain developing, however, on the west coast of the South Island and becoming more general during the next day or two. Temperatures: Mild in the north, cool in the south. YESTERDAY’S TEMPERATURES Maximum: CO degrees Fah. Minimum: 53 degrees Fab.
