AWAHURI Mrs. Rowlands presided over the April meeting, extending a welcome to all. Members decided for the future to commence tlie meetings at 3.45 p.m. Mesdames Redmayne and Baker were appointed vice-presidents and Mesdames Rowlands, Baker and Mclntyre were appointed to make out the programmes for the year. The knitting competition for May will be mittens; and June a scarf to be done on No. 7 needles, t 65 stitches, basket stitch with plain edge. Mrs. Persson kindly entertained members with songs, which were enjoyed. Mrs. Lucas was responsible for a competition. There was also a bring and buy stall. The proceeds from this went to the soldiers’ parcels fund. Members celebrated the institute birthday for which Mrs. Bond kindly made and donated the cake. At her suggestion the remainder was sold and the money also given for the parcels ’ fund. Competition results were as follows:—Balaclavas, Mrs. Christian 1, Mrs. Goodman 2, Mrs. Redmayne 3, best bloom, Mrs. Bond 1, Miss Pearce 2, Mrs. Oke 3.
