Feilding Civic Club

OPENING OF NEW SEASON Feilding’s Civic Club, which holds its fortnightly luncheons during autumn and winter months, is to open its 1941 season to-morrow in the Bercsford tearooms. Tho guest speaker wil lbe Col. Macaulay, a very popular after-lunch speaker. His subject will be “A Peculiar People” —a quite unusual theme about a little-known community. As usual, the first gathering is the annual meeting, with the election of officers. Tho immediate prospect for guest speakers is good. The second guest is to be Mrs. E. H. McGregor, of Ceylon, whose subject wil lbe ‘‘Ceylon and its People. ’ ’ In accepting a renewal of the club’s invitation, Wir Harry Batterbee writes: “My engagements arc necessarily provisional, but, subject to unforsecn developments, I should like to come on Tuesday, May 27.” That will make the High Commissioner for Great Britain the club’s third guest speaker. Ho addh iu his letter: “I should be vrey glad to talk to the students of the Agricultural High School.” [Members of the Feilding Chamber of Commerce are reminded that the meeting called for this evening has been postponed until Monday evening next, May 5, on account of a special meeting of the Borough Council to be held this evening.
