Americas to Produce Own Rubber
WASHINGTON, Feb. 22. The American United Press is informed that the Department of Agriculture has concluded agreements with 11 Latin American countries for scientific experiments designed to make the Western Hemisphere eventually a self-suffi-cient rubber-producing centre, with Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Standard agreements have been made Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela. The United States has agreed to cooperate in furnishing the necessary materials. Officials said that the department had already acquired land and established at least one experimental station in each of the countries involved.
