Home Guard
BUNNYTIIORPE INITIAL PARADE An example which could well be emulated by other districts in the area was set by the men of Bunnytliorpe on Alonday evening. At their first Home Guard parade on the Domain there was an attendance of approximately 80 and the local commander, Air. D. Heggie, said that there was a membership roll of almost 100 per cent, of the mpn of the district. A commendable enthusiasm, was displayed in tho drill which was carried out under the instruction of tTro n.c.o’s. from the Northern Battalion in Palmerston North, tho men all enjoying their self-imposed tasks. Afterwards a list of those chosen to train as u.c.o’s. was read out. It is to be hoped that now that the Home Guard throughout the whole area is growing by leaps and bounds it will not be long before other districts will be able to put up an equally good showing.
