HIGHEST FOR 12 YEARS Totalisator returns for the Cnristmaa and New Year racing and trotting meetings throughout New Zealand arc •he highest for the past 12 years. In r.ll there have been 34 days' racing, public investments thus being at an averes* rate of approximately £37,000 a c’ar. At one meeting only—that of the Waipukurau Jockey Club—were the totalisator returns less than for the previous year. At several meetings the increases were substantial. On a percentage basis the Ashburton Trottinj Club recorded the greatest increr.-e. the totalisator bcinj up by £12,765 fer the one day of the meeting, an incrc-te of approximately 52 per cent, on the previous year. The clubs to benefit most were: Westland R.C. tone day) Cl per cent, increase; Wyndiia-n R.C. tona way) 30 per ccnc.; Marton J.C. Increased totalisator returns of approximately 10 per cent, on last peer were recorded by the Auckland R.C. (four days), Taranaki J.C. (two days). V/inton T.C. (one day) and Oamaru J.C. (one day).
