Fair and Warm Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. An anti-cyclone still covers the northern half of New Zealand, while an extensive depression covers the western Tasman Sea but is making only slow progress towards the Dominion. Winds: Moderate easterlies to uortherlies over the Auckland Peninsula; elsewhere westerlies to northerlies predominating locally, strong about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough iu Cook Btrait and rather rough south of Cape Egmont; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate northeasterlies in tne northern portion with moderate seas; strong northerlies in the southern portion with rough seas and a change to westerlies later. Weather: Unsettled on the west coast of the South Island -with rain at times; elsewhere chiefly fair and warm but some local morning low cloud and drizzle. YESTERDAY'S TEMPERATURES Maximum 74 degrees F. Minimum 68 degrees F.
