Australian Pilot Killed in Air Crash
TRAINEE MACHINE CRASHES IN TAKE-OFF Received Sunday, 8.55 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 5. An Air Force instructor, Pilot Arthur Lloyd Smith, aged 24, was killed in a plane accident in southern New South Wales. Three other occupants were injured. The machine had taken off with trainees when it collided with an administration desk at the edge of the aerodrome and immediately shot into the air when one wing collapsed. The machine crashed from about a hundred feet. Pilot Smith was a son of Mr. A. E. Smith, manager of the Autsralian Glass Company.
