Rumours of Long Casualty Lists Denied

HEARTLESS AND INCORRECT Received Monday, 12.3 a.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 5. Australian Army Headquarters issues an official denial of rumours that a long casualty list from the A.I.F. in Libya is being withheld. Headquarters, affirming that the rumour is completely false, said the stories were of a particularly heartless character and specifically named some Australian casualties to the great distress of the relatives, who have been officially advised to disregard such rumours. Headquarters mentioned four specific cases wherein the names of four wellknown Victorian footballers were mentioned. It has been proved that no casualty has been reported in respect of such men. The casualty lists so far received

contain few names. Last week one man was reported wounded and two missing, bolioved prisoners.
