Five Injured in Car Accident
COLLISION AT UPPER HUTT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 5. Five persons were injured shortly berore 8 p.in. yesterday when a Jigh. car and coupe collided at the intersection of Gibbons Road with the main highway near Upper Hutt. They were: J. Cox, clerk, 29 Home Street, Wellington, fractured righ arm; Mrs. V. Haylock, 16 Herald Street, Wellington, severe scalp wound and shock; G. Fitzmaurice, carpenter, 33 Homo (Street, injured left arm; Jack Fitzmaurice, aged 11, 33 Home Street, fractured rignt arm and shock; Matthew Bonner, 29 Home Street, injured shoulders. From information supplied by the Upper Hutt police it appears that Mr. D. A. llaylock, of Berhampore, with his wife and brother (Mr. Charles Haylock) was driving a li"ht car south along the main road at Upper Hutt intending to turn into Gibbons Road when the other car driven by Mr. Bonner, who was travelling in the same direction, collided with him. Mr. Bonner's car, which contained four other passengers, ran through a fence. After the accident Mr. Hay lock's car came to rest against a power pole. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. The free ambulance took the injured persons to hospital.
