Kimbolton Send-off
PRIVATE L. J, BLOOMFIELD A member of the staff of the Kiwitea County Council, Private L. J. Bloomfield, was farewelled yesterday afternoon at the Council Chambers, Kimbolton, in view of his departure overseas with the Special Force. In the absence of the chairman, (Cr. L. T. McLean), Cr. W. G. Clapham made the guest a presentation of a gold mounted fountain pen and pencil suitably inscribed. Cr. Clapham said that councillors and members of the staff joined in wishing Private Bloomfield every success and assured him that his position would be available for him on his return from overseas. Mr. W. L, Hesseltine (county clerk) e,nd Mr. J. Hallman (county overseer) also spoke and wished Private Bloomfield a safe and speedy return. Private Bloomfield expressed his thanks and appreciation for the gift and good wishes. It. was announced that it was the intention of the council to make similar presentations to members of its staff joining the forces and going overseas.
