Feilding Plunket Society
SURPRISE PARTY On Thursday evening last, members of the Mother’s Club held in a delightful surprise party in the- Feilding Plunket Rooms. This party took the form of a surprise house-warming and pantry evening, the guest of honour being Miss Briggs, the Plunket nurse, who has taken up her residence in the Plunket flat. This opportunity was also taken to farewell Mrs. A. McGregor, who is to make her new home in Wairoa,, and who for some time has been a member of the general committee. The rooms were graced with decorations appropriate to Hallowe’en. On arrival the guests were presented with shoulder sprays. Competitions, charades and "fortunes" added to the entertainment. Prize-winners were Mesdames S. Evans, De La Cour, I. Funnell and Nurse Briggs. Prior to the supper interval, Mrs. A. C. McCorkindale (president of the branch) paid a tribute to the services of Mrs. McGregor, who had been a member of the committee for five years. The branch was losing one of its most energetic and willing workers and the committee would miss her pleasant companionship and help in all their activities. In appreciation of her work the president, on behalf of the committee, asked Mrs. McGregor to accept : a- case of afternoon tea spoons and cake forks with their best wishes. To Miss i Briggs, Mrs. McCorkindale conveyed a warm welcome to the Plunket flat and asked her acceptance of the gifts for her pantry. Several mothers then wheeled in a "pram” load of contributions. ’ Mrs. McGregor and Nurse Briggs suitably replied. Others present were Mesdames R-. Bailey 7, V. J. Stichbury, T. Collins, R. Bowles, L. Blackbourn, I. Goldfinch, B. Cossar, De La Cour, G. Wilkinson (Levin), Russell, Clover, Hibberd, Hubbard, Sinkinson, A. Svendsen, Robson, Lourie, W. Green, C. Hostick, S. Collier, I. Funnell, Whitehead, Mutch, Mc-Avinue, T. Hicks and Hepworth, Misses Benge and : M. McElroy.
