Troops for Overseas

INSPECTION BY LORD GALWAY Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 31. A march past of the troops at Burnham Camp was staged to-day upon the visit of tho Governor-General (Lord Galway). Fifteen hundred Expeditionary Force troops and 3000 Territorials participated iq the parade, in addition to detachments from the district school of recently selected recruits from the Expeditionary Force training battalions who will become officers in futuro reinforcements. A splendid showing was made by the Expeditionary Force troops, most of whom have been in training for only three weeks. The Governor-General took the salute. With him was Brigadier O. H. Mead, Officer Commanding tiie Southern Military District. A feature of the parade was that five bands participated. After tho parade the Governor-Gen-eral inspected the camp and later addressed/ the Expeditionary Force ■ roops. He said he hoped the difficulties, dangers and discomforts which would be their lot would be faced with the same grim determination so exemplified by the First New Zealand Contingent in the last war. The GovernorGeneral wished the troops all the best of good luck and a safe and happy return.
