America’s Huge Defence Expenditure
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Frida}', 9.20 p.m. WASHINGTON, Sept. 26. The House unanimously approved and sent to the Senate the 1,470,000,000 dollars supplementary army and navy appropriation—the last of the 33,000,000,000 dollars defence expenditures voted this session. Mr. H. L. Stiwson (Secretary of War) announced that the army had awarded 2,936,000,000 dollars in contracts since July 1.
