Great Work by Canadian Air Force

100 ENEMY PLANES BAGGED (British Official Wireless.) Received Thursday, 9.20 p.m. RUGBY, Sept. 25. The reputation of the Royal Canadian Air Force has been further enhanced bv details of its participation ia the air battles over England given by the Air Ministry news service which 3ays: “Ono of tho German bombers, a Dornier 215, was attacked by two Hurricane pilots of the R.C.A.F. squadron. When they came back to their base they found Air-Marshal Bishop, V.C., the famous Canadian fighter pilot of the last war and now Director of Recruiting for the R.C.A.F., waiting to meet them. The two Canadian pilots were slightly disappointed they could not say they had destroyed an enemy because they had not been able to see it drop into tho sea, but a few minutes later a message came through from a coastguard station that the Dornier had been seen to plunge into the Channel. Six times during the past fortnight Candian pilots fighting witn the R.A.F. helped to save London from attack. Between them these Hurricane squadrons—tho original “all Canadian” squadron of the R.A.F. formed in England and the squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force formed in Canada, have already destroyed more than 100 of the enemy. Well a 3 all tho Canadians did over Dunkirk, much of their fine fighting has been over tho streets and docks and houses of London. The Royal Canadian jAir Force squadron which came into action in August has done all its fighting in home defence. In their last 3ix fights the “All Canadians” have now destroyed 55 enemy against the loss of only two of their own pilots. The R.C.A.F. squadron, the more nowly arrived, is proud it came to England as a complete unit with Canadianbuilt Hurricanes, a full supply of spares and its own motor transport. Eighty-three of their ground staff learned their knowledge of lighter aircraft under the Empire training scheme. Like all Canadians the R.C.A.F. squad ron is proud to have fought for London.
