Visitors From Hawke’s Bay MANAWATU CENTRA SOUNDLY BEATEN Bowlers from the Napier Centre descended on Palmerston North on Saturday in the first of the inter-centre matches of the season on this side of the range. In the morning friendly inter-club games were played to allow the visitors the chance of gauging the greens, and then in the afternoon the real tussle commenced to end in Manawatu being badly beaten to the tune of 323 to 245. Nash, president of the Manawatu Centre, extended a welcome to the Hawke’s Bay players, and intimated that the Manawatu Centre would definitely be returning the visit in February next. He outlined the arrangements for play and presented Mr. H. J. Price, president of the Hawke's Bay Centre, with a Manawatu Centre badge, expressing the hope that all would have an enjoyable day after the dismal weather they had left in Napier. Mr. Price responded, saying that the visit would further cement the cordial relations existing between the two centres. He stated that unavoidable circumstances had prevented the Hawke’s Bay Centre from making a visit to Manawatu last year. Cheers were exchanged and the players then proceeded to the greens.
