Japanese Capture Important Town

(Received 25, 12.30 p.m.) TOKIO, Nov. 24. Domei News Agency reported that Nanning has been occupied. Mr Abends, the Shanghai correspondent of the New York Times, reports that the official announcement stated that the Japanese entry into south-east Nanning was made at one p.m. today. This was one of the most remarkable exploits of the whole war. It included a landing at three points on November 15, and a march inland over a ditched highway, fighting through mountain passes and fording unbridged streams. The distance from the landing point to Nanning was 25 miles because of the indirect route. Officers claim that the captors of Nanning now control the key point on the route of 70 per cent, of China’s imports from French Indo-China.
