After Twenty-five Years

REMAINS OF ALPINE VICTIM DISCOVERED Per Press Association. TIMARU, Nov. 26. The tragedy on the Linda Glacier, Mount Cook, early in 1914 when Dr Sydney King, a member of the Alpine Club, London, and Guides D. Thomson and J. Richmond wore overwhelmed iu an avalanche after a successful ascent of Mount Cook was recalled this week by tho discovery of a human trunk, a piece of bone with a sock adhering to it, a quantity of clothing and portion of a rucksack. The discovery was made by two Timaru men who went for a walk on the lower portion of Hocstettor Glacier off the track usually taken by tourists. The trunk was minus t»o head, arms and legs and was compressed to the thickness of about three inches but was fresh and well preserved. The clothing consisted of tweed. Thero was also underclothing and windbreak materia! and portion of a light rucksack. The type of clothing suggested that the body was that of Dr. King and not the guides who would bo differently attired. The remains had travelled over icebrcaks on the Linda aud down a distance of four miles in a period of just over 25 years.
