Baptist Sunday School

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Over one hundred children and 5U Bible class members And teachers were present at a tea held in the Sunday school room in conjunction with the anniversary celebrations of the Palmererston North Baptist Church Sunday School on Thursday evening. At the conclusion of the tea a concert was held in the Municipal Hall, where there was an audience of over 300. The superintendent of the main school (Mr. K. Edrich) presided at tue concert. Mr. Edrich paid a tribute to the ioyai and faithful services of the teachers througnout tho past year. Messages ol goodwill were received from the pastor (Rev. J. C. Macky), wlio is at present in Auckland, and Mr. R. Frost, of Dunedin, a former secretary. Anthems were rendered by the scholars, assisted by the choir. Recitations by the primary children of the main school were given by Cynthia Ward, James Campbell, Janet Macky, jane Burgess, Doris Johnson and Shirley Chamoers; pianoforte solos, Merle Burgess, James Anderson and Greta Macky; pianoforte duets, David Richardson and Geoffrey Robinson; vocai duets, Adrienne Allen and Lorna Wilby, and Marion King and Shirley Aiken, solos, Hazel Waru, Greta Macky, Peggy Snelling, Juno Bracey and Betty Mortensen; songs, primary children of the Northern Sunday School; shipping, Avis Ward; violin solo, Miss L. Donovan; monologue, Roy Friend; flute duet, Messrs. O. Huse and G. S. Thompson; mouth-organ duet, Messrs. E. Perry and E. Taylor. Prizes were presented to all the primary children of the Main, Northern and Park Road Sunday Schools, and to all the successful scholars in the other classes, by Mrs. W. G. Wilby. At tho conclusion of the presentation Mrs. Wilby was presented with a beautiful bouquet by Cynthia Ward. Thanks were expressed to all who had helped to make the anniversary celebrations a success, and also to Mr. Edrich for his untiring efforts in connection with the work of the Sunday school.
