Patriotic Committee To be Enlarged
MEETING NEXT AVEEE Tho Palmerston North Centonnial Zone committee, which is acting for patriotic fund purposes, is to be called together next week, stated tho chairman, Mr. A. E. Mansford, last evening after returning from AVellingtou. The object of the meeting will be to enlarge its representation in order to embrace various organisations in the city. CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR MEN IN CAMPS Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Nov. 24. Tho A\ r elington provincial patriotic council decided to hold a flag day on December 8 to raise funds for Christmas cheer for the men in camps and garrisons and for troops on guard duty in the central military district. It was announced at the meeting that the National Patriotic Funds Board was launching tho first of its national appeals, to be made at three-monthly intervals, and which i.s expected to realise £185,000 a year. AUCKLAND GIVES GENEROUSLY Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. Citizens of Auckland contributed about £1763 in a Flag Day street apepa.l to-day for funds for soldiers’ comforts. The collection was made in 22 local body r areas and upward of 500 women gave their services us collectors. In the city area the collection amounted to £1042. *
