Payout on Pigs

CO-OPERATIVE COMPANY’S WINTER POOL The New Zealand Co-operative Pig .Marketing Association has announced As second advance payment rates on all pigs received on consignment from suppliers for the period June 1 to November 4. This distribution will reach suppliers during the present month. The payments are exclusive of share credits and shareholders ’ oonus, which will be dealt with as usual in the final settle ment at the end of the season. The iates for the various grades and classes are as follow: Exportable prime quality porkers, up to 1001 b., 1; 1011 b. to 1201 b., 1§; unexportable porkers, all grades, Id; exportable prime quality baconers, all grades, Id; unexportable baconers, all grades, Id; choppers. Id. Producers are also advised of an apparent misunderstanding which has arisen regarding the purchase and sale of pigs over the normal top-weight paid for. This has arisen through the delay in the application of the commandeer, which provides a market for carcases up to 1801 b. at a flat rate f.o.b. price. Producers have assumed that all pigs purchased since the announcement of the British Government’s requisition were sold under it. This is, however, incorrect, the position being that up to the present all pigs slaughtered for export and shipped have been handled entirely free of the commandeer. It is, however, anticipated that killings for export as from Monday, November 21, will be taken over under it, from which date export schedules have been revised to comply with its conditions, including full payment for a maximum top weight of ISOlb. It is also pointed out that at present pigs lib. over this weight cannot be exported as baconers, and inasmuch as such pigs have only a heavy discount value on the local market, producers would be wise to carefully watch the weight of their pigs and thus avoid this heavy penalty.
