The procedure it is intended to adop* in connection with the purchase and sale of woolly sheepskins was explained by the Minister of Marketing, Mr. \vj Nash, in a broadcast to-night. He announced that Mr. R. Burges! of Dunedin, had been appointed tj control woolly sheepskins under the powers delegated to him, and that Mr G. Stewart, of Dunedin, would be th* deputy-controlling authority. It wai also stated by Mr. Nash that an important Order-in-Council had been made a meeting of the Executive Council this morning with regard to thi marketing of New Zealand wools sheepskins, hides and pelts.

It was made under the authority given in the amendment to th* Marketing Act of last session ana extended the powers of the Marketin| Department to enable it to purchase these products.

Authority was also given for th* department to pay for services in respect of the purchase of variouj products, and the prohibition againsl the sale of them under the Woe| Emergency Regulations was lifted so far as sale to the department wai concerned.

Mr. Nash said that it had been decided to set up a central organisation for the purchase and sale of woolly sheepskins. Then it would be possibly to control the position in its and also to safeguard it from the producers’ and dealers’ points of view. The idea was to allow Id per lb. for the administration of the whole job, to be covered if possible inside that allowance. Existing exporting houses would have their identity mantained. They would maintain their own connections overseas even though sales were made through the controlling authority. Mr. Nash said that he had received advice from Mr. Burgess that day that agreement had been reached for the appraisement of all sheepskins held in store as at November 18. The prices to be paid by the authority for skins should be as at September 1, plus id per lb. to cover reasonable charges since that date. All skins coming into store after November 18 would be purchased at price schedules to be issued fro-m time to time and based on current market values.
