From Our Own Correspondent Bowling. On Saturday afternoon a rink from Takaro (Palmerston North) visited Foxton for tho purpose of meeting the local
rink homing the Takaro Cup. The gaiu« ' was closely contested but Foxton managed . to stave off the challenge. The teams anu scores were as follows:—Takaro: Russell, ICooksley, Christensen, Hearsay (s.) Foxton: Huntley, Christie, Trueman, S. Mattar (s.) 25. A friendly game resulted in a draw. ! Woods (s.) 22. Representatives of tho 'local club paid a visit to Paraparumu on Saturday afternoon. Those who made the , trip were Read, R. Hay dock, H. Haydock, J. Grant (s.). They defeated Otaki (Waker s.) by 20 to 18. Personal. The friends of Mr. G. Scadden will regret to learn that he underwent an operation for the removal of one of his
arms in the Palmerston North Hospiu last week. He is reported to be makin satisfactory progress towards recovery. The death of one of Foxton's mos highly respected residents in the person < Mrs. M. J t Fraser, of “Awa Pari,” ‘‘Lady Mile, took place on Tuesday morninj Deceased was in her 78th year and wa mother of Miss O. Fraser and Mr. G. "\ Fraser, of Foxton.
