In her report given at tho Dominion Girl Guides' annual meeting, held last week, Aliss Ruth Herrick, Chief Commissioner for New Zealand, stressed the need to realise more the modern trend towards sports, physical fitness and the open-air life and to cater more for this trend in the healthiest and most helpful way by running more camps for Guides. As the Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powoll said, “ Camping gives the-healthy, useful, open j air life which is wanted by the Guides themselves together with the comradeship and spiritual understanding which are found in our Law and Promise." In the past year this had boon better realised by members and more than 3 200 Guides camped under canvas during the summer season.
