Dublin University Has Woman Professor
LONDON, July 3. Trinity College, Dublin, which dedegrees ,to women, is to have its first cided as far back as 1904 to grant degrees to women, is to have its first woman professor. It is understood that Miss Constantia Maxwell, tho noted author and lecturer, is to be promoted to the chair of history in Dublin University, iu succession to Professor Alison Phillips, who is due to retire. Miss Alaxwell has been lecturer in modern history at Trinity Collego Since 1909.
The college was founded by Queen Elizabeth, who granted a Royal charter in 1591 for tho establishment of an institution “to improvo Dublin people’s knowledge and civility and to keej>
them from travelling to foreign universities where they might make contacts with England’s enemies.”
