From Our Own Correspondent. Personal and General
Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Smith "Fairfields,” have as their guest Mr. Whitehead, of Wellington. Miss C. Palmer has returned to her home after holidaying in the Dannevlrkfc district.
Miss B. McVicar is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McVicar, Reid’s Line. Miss Myra Smith has returned home after a lengthy sojourn in Sydney. Mrs. J. Walker, of Aratika, is holidaying in Christchurch. Much interest is being aroused in the young farmers’ clubs’ debating contest, and the local club is to be congratulated upon its second victory, this being against the Whakarongo team by ten poipts. Mr. C. Burr (leader), Mr. N. Williamson and Mr. L. Thurston were the successful combination. The local school children are practising hard for their annual fancy dress ball. This is an eagerly-awdTted event by the children, and from the enthusiasm being displayed by young and old alike the function promises to be very successful. Renovations to the hall have been commenced and painting operations are to be undertaken shortly. When this work is finalised the residents should have a practical memorial of their hard work in organising a bazaar to finance same.
