Plunket Society Considers Month’s Work
Mrs. G. C. Petersen presided over the July meeting of tho Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society, also present being Mesdames W. G. Black, S. R. Thomson, J. Edwards, F. Garner, L. H. Collinson and M. Aitchison (honorary secretary). There were apologies from Mesdames A. E. Mansford, J. A Nash, H. L. Kirk, T. J. Rodgers, Miss L. M. Banks, also Mrs. Adjutant Dick. The president announced that owing to clashing with other functions, the proposed bridge party for funds for tho Sir Truby King memorial had been postponed to tho third week in August. Mrs. Aitchison reported that a suitable bicycle had been purchased for Miss McLennan, third nurse. Mrs. Pptcrsen mentioned that Mrs. D. R. Barron had been asked to represent the Foxton sub-branch as a delegate to the provincial meeting. Mrs. E. M. Clark, secretary of the New- Plymouth branch, notified change of venue for. tho provincial meting on August 1 and asked that notification be given immediately of matters tho branch desired discussed. It was also announced that visitors would be entertained at lunch on tho day of meeting. A further letter acknowledging receipt of notification that Palmerston North was not sending in nomination for the Dominion Council and that New Plymouth branch would bo pleased to welcome tho delegates notified. Letters of acknowledgment and appreciation for election to office as vice-president in the society were received from Mesdames Peach, A. A. Langley, A. Coombs, A. Grigor, 11. B. Free (also lifo membership), and L. A. Abraham. Messrs. A. E. Mansford and J. Murray accepted election to tho advisory board and expressed thanks for the honour, and Mr. T. F. Reliing tho office of honorary solicitor. Nurse’3 Report For the month of Juno the Plunket nurse (Sister A. M. Kearns) reported that 1344 visits had ben paid to the rooms (672 adults, 606 babies and 66 older children), visits to homes totalling 153. There wore 40 new cases. Parcels of clothing were gratefully acknowledged from Mesdames Dixon and Tasker. Miss McLennan commenced duty on June 1. Four visits had been paid to Foxton, where visits to tho oflico totalled 133 (67 adults, 61 babies, 5 older children). There were threo now cases. Sales for the month of Ivarilac, etc., amounted to £9 9s lOd; membership | fees, £5 6s; donations: Mrs. E. B. Brownlie 10s, Mrs. H. E. Fairey £l, Mrs. E. A. O’Connor £1 Is, Mrs. W. M. Millar £1 Is, Mrs. E. J. Hunter 10s, together with 19s 6d accruing from tho collection box, making a total of £l9 17s 4d.—The report was adopted. Accounts amounting to £34 11s 4d were passed for payment.
