From Our Own Correspondent. School Committee Present at the .Shannon School Committee meeting were Mesdames R. Roberts and G. Moas, jnr., and Messrs. Mather, Hately, Jatnespn, Goodwin, A. Birss, H. Murrow (chairman) and W. Carlyle (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr. W. Dickenson, headmaster. Owing to the resignation of Mrs. Pedersen, Mrs. G. Moss, Jnr., was appointed to the vacancy on the committse. Matters relating to the grounds, play area, etc., were left in the bauds of Messrs. A. Birss and Murrow. Conveyance matters were left in abeyance. Buckley Qoif Club A Slapleford bogey will be played at Buckley to day. To-morrow Bucucy will play their annual match with Yui Glen. The Buckley team will be selected from the following: E. T. Wilson. J. C. Stern, F. Picard, D. Long-Ward, U. Stern, V. Pope, H. Mabey, i£. Thomson, J:. Graham, N. Mabey, A. McSweeuej, C. Goodwin, F. Perry, C. Guerin, N. Bach, H. Moore, H. ltarena, D. Higgle, S. Price, H. Pope, A. Moore and L. Edwards. Anyone unable to play is asked to notify the captain or vice-captain.

The draw in the ladies’ section in the C grade championship is: Mrs. Birch and Miss Willis, Miss L. Munro and Miss D. Newton, Miss McDonald and Miss Alters, Mrs. L. Edwards and Mis. C. Guerin, Miss J. Park and Misa Holdsworth, Miss E. Roach and Mrs. C. Stern, Miss D. L.eng-Ward and Mrs. Simpson. All other players are asked to play their Tul Glen clock games. To-day’e Rugby To-day’s Rugby games, with the venues and referees, are as follows:—senior; .Shannon v. Foxton at Shannon (Mr. Zuppicich); Rahui v. Kuku-Manakau at Otaki (Mr. H. Jacob); Wanderers v. Athletic at Rugby Park (Mr. L. G. Campbell). It was resolved at tpia week’s meeting of the management committee of the llorowhenua Rugby Union to close tho third grade competition and to declare the Foxton team tho winner in this grade. In connection with the junior competition, Otakl was accounted the winner of the southern division and Athletic B winners of the northern division. It was resolved to play the final between these two clubs to-day on the Levin Domain. A letter was received from the Nelson Rugby Union confirming August tl as the date for the representative game, Nelson v. Horowhenua at Levin. Mr. W. Hannan was appointed to arrange suitable entertainment for the visitors during their stay in Levin. The chairman, Mr. J. Gillespie, extended a welcome to Mr. Anderson, late of the Waitaki Union, v*ao had been newly appointed to the committee, as the representative of the Referees’ Association, in the place of Mr. R. G. Henderson, who had resigned. A protest was received from the Athletic Club against Wanderers juniors being awarded the match played against Athletic B juniors on July 15 by reason of the fact that senior players were included in the Wanderers team, ami Athletic asked that the match be replayed. Tho protest was sustained and the match awarded to Athletic B. The Foxton Club submitted a protest against ho Foxon-Kuku-Manakau match on July 15 being declared a draw, alleging thst the try scored by Kuku-Manakau was not converted as ruled by the referee, and asked that the match be replayed. Several members pointed out that the referee« ruling must be regarded as final, and the protest was dismissed.
