FEILDING LIVE STOCK SALE

Bright Tone Maintained WETHER MUTTON DEARER i LATE RATES PREVAIL IN OTHER SECTIONS A sharp rise in values for wether . mutton w r as recorded at the Feilding ; live stock sale yesterday when prices L for this class of mutton appreciated from 2s to 3s a head. This was the , bright spot of the fat sheep sale and i with ewe mutton and lambs at late . rates the tone was most encouraging, j Reports indicate that there is a shorti age in the cities of good mutton and [ this was reflected in the firm demand ; yesterday. Compared with this period , last year, yesterday’s realisations in [ the fat sheep pens were about on a par. . The store sliecp market was buoyant . enough but the quality was rather in , and out and hardly up to what firm . buyers were out for. However, good i lines of in-lamb ewes sold readily at rates comparing favourably with those ruling last week but at the same sale last year were definitely dearer. Hogget values were according to quality with good sales recorded for one or two lines of outstanding ewe hoggets. The sheep yarded yesterday numbered close on 4000 head, compared with just under 3000 for the same sale last year. Station cattle found the market holding firmly to last week’s improved values and the indications are that the demand for good cattle will increase. Beef came forward in good numbers but the market was not so active, there being several passings. In the dairy section the entries included several good quality springing cows which commanded high rates. Fat Lambs. The offering of fat lambs included several pens of good meaty sheep and the yarding produced good competition among freezing interests and butchers. Realisations were as follow:—On account L. A. J.
