BRITISH PURCHASES FROM NEW ZEALAND URGED LONDON, July 7. Mr. J-olin Maymard Keynes, the noted economist, in a letter to The Times, urges the expenditure of £100,000,000 on vital reserves, declaring that, with ships idle and wheat at a shilling a quarter, the money would not be w asted even if the emergency passes. He adds: “Why not assist New Zealand by offering to purchase forthwith whatever quantity of goods she can ship? Even if gold is lost, gold so spent will go twice as far as it would during an emergency. ’ ’
