Messrs. T. R. Lees, H. von Stunner. T. R. llodder, and J. Raiuforth will leave Palmerston North on Monday for a bowling holiday in Suva, where they will spend four weeks. They will participate in the Suva bowling carnival.

Mr. R. J. Inkster, who was a short time ago transferred to the Chief Post Office, Palmerston North, from Christ church, on promotion, to the position of supervisor of the mail room, has received advice of his impending transfer to a similar position in Wellington.

Cabled advice has been received in Christchurch thut Mr. A. C. Meiklo has been commissioned as second-lieutenant in the Indian Army from the Koval Military College, Sandhurst. Mr. Mcikle is an old boy of Christ's College, nnd son of Major J. Allen Mcikle, of Fendalton, Christchurch. Dr. E. R. Cooper, physicist to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Wellington, is at Massey College for a few days, studying the slow air movements in cheese curing rooms. Before coming to New Zealand, Dr. Cooper was engaged in research for the Royal Air Force, especially in wind tunnel experiments where air currents of gale force are artificially produced to test new designs in aeroplanes. In a local talent quest conducted by the management of the Young Australians' Company during their visit to the city, Earle Andrews, the eleven year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Andrews, of Palmerston North, was acclaimed the winner and received the £1 Is prize. Bo impressed was the manager with Earle’s voice that he has offered to take him into the company for a short time to see if Earle would like to go further alield. This is Earle’s second offer within the space of a few weeks as it will be remembered he was invited to join the Vienna Boys’ Choir recently. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews only returned yesterday from Wellington and have nut yet made any decision as to this latest proposal.
