Pohangina Valley

From Our Own Correspondent. The May meeting of the Pohangina Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held on Wednesday last at the home of Mrs. G. H. Passey. There was a good attendance of members. A welcome was accorded Rev. It. Richards, Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Mullins. The sympathy of the members iis extended to Mrs. Biddleeombe in her illness and hopes expressed for a speedy recovery. One new member, Miss Sinclair, was welcomed. Rev. Richards consented to fill the office of president, Mrs. Richards regretting that, for health reasons, she was unable to do so. Mi’. Richards opened the meeting with devotional exercises, after which, at his suggestion, the vice-president took charge of the meeting. Interesting letters were read from Sisters Netta Giltos and AfS/whai Wilcox. A quantity of useful clothing was collected to be sent to Sister Nicols for distribution among her needy Maori people. A market stall did brisk business, by which the sum of 30s was added to the church refurnishing fund. It was decided to hold a market stall at each meeting this session. A competition held during the afternoon was won by Mrs. F. Wagstaff, with Mrs. Sinclair and Miss Sinclair tying for second place. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess. The June meeting, which will be held at Mrs. Sinclair’s home, will be on the third Wednesday and members are reminded to bring their Kiirahuna boxes. Rev. Richards, on behalf of members, thanked Mrs. Passey for her hospitality.
