Manner of Death Of German War Ace
AUSTRALIAN SHRAPNEL LONDON, May 4. An Australian field battery played a part in the death of Baron von Richthofen, the famous war ace, according to the new German Air Force periodical, Adler. It refutes the theory that Richthofen was made prisoner and died mysteriously while in custody, and also the claim that a Canadian novice pilot shot down Richthofen after an encounter. The Adler states that letters from British soldiers prove that Richthofen was brought down by shrapnel fired by Australians and died before grounding.
