From Our Own Correspondent. Personal Mr. A. S. Martin, at one time on the staff of the local Post Office, and now stationed at Te Araroa, Poverty Bay, spent a day or two in Shannon this week visiting friends on his way back from a three weeks’ holiday spent in Chrißtchuch. Mr. Martin left again on Friday on his way north. Miss Ethel AVood returned home on Monday after spending a forlnigfct with her sister, Mrs. N. Lincoln, at Manunui. .Messrs. L. Small and T. Newton, who have been absent on a motor tour of the North Island, returned home on Tuesday night after a most enjoyable trip wiz’fcli took them as far north as Auckland. Mrs. E. J. Sullivan left on Saturday for Auckland, where she will spend a short holiday. Mrs. Sullivan is accompanied by her grand-daughter, Miss Eila Twiley. Having undergone an operation in the Palmerston North Hospital, Mrs. A. Graham, of Marinoto, is making good progress. Superintendent AV. Radford, jnr., and Messrs. V. Richards and Seaton, of the local volunteer fire brigade, were present at a smoke concert at Carterton on Saturday last, this function being given b*y members of the Carterton Fire Brigade. Mr. and Mrs. J. Martin had as guest for the week-ena Mr. N, J. Martin, of Motueka. Mr. and Mrs. Hofmann, Old Foxtbn Road, have left this district to reside in Foxton.
