Official Farewell to Naval Secretary
PAYMASTER-CAPTAIN E. L. TOTTENHAM Per Press As»ocratlon. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A farewell tea was given to-day by the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones, in honour of Paymasier-Captain E. L. Tottenham, Naval Secretary, who leaves by the Awatea on Tuesday on his return to England after completing four years’ service with the New Zealand Naval Forces. Opportunity was aSo taken to welcome Mr. Tottenham’s successor, Paymaster Captain N. T. P. Cooper. The function was attended by the Prime Minister (Mr. Savage) and the Attorney-General (Mr. Mason), members of the Naval Board, the Army Board and the Air Board. Mr. Jones, who expressed regrot that the Dominion was losing the services of Mr. Tottenham, spoke in highest praise of the assistance he had given the Government and the ability ne had displayed as Naval hocretary. He felt aura Mr. Tottenham would continue to make progress in the Naval service. Air. toavage also paid tribute to the departing Naval Secretary'. The Government, he said, had be-en well and ably served by Air. Tottenham and he regretted that the time had come for ins departure. He wished him success lii. the future and trusted that the l*av-master-Captain, and his wife and family would return to the Dominion.
