Rongotea
From Our Own Correspondent. Girl Guides The annual sports meeting of Ihe Rongotea Girl Guide Company held on Monday, when a large number of Guides spent a very busy and happy day. The sports commenced at 11 o'clock, luncheon adjournment being taken just before 1 o’clock. The Guides prepared their own lunch, which they enjoyed picnic fashion at the Masonic Hall. Having satislied the pangs of hunger, they returned to the sports ground to carry out the remainder of their programme. This concluded shortly after 3 o'clock, Die Guides then enjoying afternoon lea, concluding with a community sing. Just prior to breaking up the gathering, the Guides formed a horseshoe and the leader of the winning patrol, the Nightingales, received the Herbert Smith Cup from the Guide captain, Miss Lorna Davis, the Guides then all standing to attention for the singing of “Taps.
