Auckland Self-imposed Territorial Quota
ALMOST REACHED Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. “There is every reason to believo that the objective of the appeal for 1000 volunteers to bring the peace establishment of Auckland’s Territorial Army to normal strength will soon be reached,” said the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, when announcing that there had now been 804 enrolments. Sir Ernest said he was very gratified at tho result of the campaign. It was explained by Colonel Weir, Officer Commanding the Northern Military District, that the 1000 enrolments aimed at would enable the various units to be brought up to strength, so that they could carry on their training to the fullest advantage.
