CLEARING SALE The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Inc. in Eng.), report having held a clearing sale at Oroua Dow ns on May 8 on behalf of Mr. Geo. Cotton. The dairy cattle offered were in good order and elicited keen competition from a large bench of buyers. Young cows calving July and August were in exceptionally good demand, a total clearance being effected at values well up to expectations. Quotations were as follows: Second and 3rd calvers, due July/August, £9 to £ll 10s; 2nd and 3rd calvers, due Sept./Oct., £6 10s to £S 10s; 4th and sth calvers, due Sept./ Oct., £5 10s to £7 10s; 6th calvers and over, £4 15s to £6; unsound and empty cows, £2 to £4; Jersey heifers, due July/Aug., £6 10s to £9 15s; ylg. Jersey heifers, to £2 15s; aged farm horse, £11; Berkshire sows, to £3; IS tons baled hay, £3 5s ton. POULTRY SALE The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report conducting a very successful clearing sale of poultry on account of O. H. Marldand, Esq., a well-known Palmerston North breeder, on Tuesday last. The birds came forward in splendid condition and a total clearance was made of 1054) sold at the undermentioned prices: Best forward pullets, 10s to 10s Gd each; late pullets, 8s to 9s Gd; pedigree hens, 30s; best yearlings, 5s Gd to 6s each; breeding cockerels, 10s to 16s; two-year-old hens, 3s 3d. Incubators: 17s 6d to 14s.
