ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH HASTINGS. April 24. Found lying unconscious on the concrete path in front of his home in St. Aubyn street, E., at 4.30 yesterday morning, Mr Alexander Meikle Johnston, aged 61, was hurried to the Hastings Memorial Hospital, but he died a short time after admission without regaining consciousness. When found by his wife he was clad in his pyjamas, and had a wound in his head, presumably received when he fell to the concrete. Mr Johnston, who had suffered a spinal disease for a number of years, slept by himself on the verandah of hjs residence. Awakened by an unusual noise at an early hour in the morning, Mrs Johnston, who occupied a room inside the house, investigated and found her husband lying on the path. tt is thought Mr Johnston roust hav« had a seizure after getting cut el bed and that when he fell his head struck the kerbing edging the pathway.
