Heffron Labour’s Second Successive Success
WAVERLEY SEAT CLINCHED Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. SYDNEY, April 25. The final result of the Waverley byelection which created much interest in State political circles was announced tonight, the Heffron Labour candidate (Mr. Martin) winning the seat with 10,447, defeating Mrs. Waddell (widow of the previous member) by 2508 votes. This seat has been usually held by a Government supporter.
An interesting feature is that the Heffron Labour Party has now won two Government seats in succession, the other being Hurstville, in addition to triumphing over the Lang Labour rival nominees on both occasions.
